OMNEX joins ISA- SP100 standards working group to help develop a multi-functional wireless network standard to enhance efficiency in industrial working environments.

OMNEX Control Systems ULC is pleased to announce our participation in the Wireless Systems for Automation Standards Committee (ISA-SP100) working group which will create an open, multi-functional wireless standard in industrial environments, with a goal of increasing productivity and reducing costs.

Comprised of more than one hundred ISA-SP100 committee members globally, the working group has identified a need within the industrial community to manage multiple plant processes more easily and efficiently. As a result, we are jointly developing a network structure to provide a safe, integrated, operational network that will reduce the number of unrelated wireless networks used in industrial plants, and still maintain an optimum level of security.

Therefore, as a long-standing member of ISA, we’re excited to lend our expertise to this new working group and help to develop a standard which will meet these changing needs in our market.”

The ISA-SP100 committee was chartered last year to establish standards, recommended practices, technical reports, and related information that will define procedures for implementing wireless systems in the automation and control environment with a focus on the field level. SP100 committee members will cooperate with associations across the industry to ensure the single architecture developed under the current working group is interoperable across industrial equipment, easy to implement, and offers significant cost savings over current wired and wireless solutions.
